Public Intervention Art

Public Intervention "Library" Photo

Because my camera froze and I had to reformat I lost my original photos, I set up and took another shot. I stuck a white antique chair in a garden across the street and sat there smoking as people passed
Result:

For my public intervention Art piece I did three separate pieces in the styles of Erwin Wurn, The Jan Family, and Improv Everywhere.

My Definition of Intervention Art: Art in which attempts to change the current state in the location it takes place.

Wikipedia's Definition of Intervention Art: An may attempt to make people aware of a condition that they previously had no knowledge of. Since these goals mean that intervention art necessarily addresses and engages with the public, some artists call their work "public interventions."
My first piece I did in the style of The Jan Family by filling up a tub with water and rose petals and braiding mine and Hope's hair together underwater. Originally we were going to put a kiddy pool in Laurelhurst part, however my neighbors pool ended up having a very large crack, making my original plan impossible.

My second intervention was done in the style of Erwin Worm's "One Minute Sculptures" I lined up all the shoes I own walking down the block and watched people's reactions from around the corner. I was pleasantly surprised that nobody tried to snatch up any of my shoes, which lead me to believe it was obvious that it was art.

My third public intervention was in the style of Improv Everywhere. My friend Hope and I choreographed a dance to a Dub step song and preformed it on the Hawthorne Bride. We waited for a boat to come and the bridge to raise, so traffic would be backed up and people would be present for our performance. We brought and boom box and blasted our music while we did our piece.
